  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 pounds fresh peaches
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 1¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted then kept at room temperature
  • 6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe Directions



1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat the oven to 350ºF and coat your Dutch Oven with butter to prevent sticking.




2. Prepare the Lemon Base

In a large mixing bowl, add the lemon juice and lemon zest.




3. Slice and Add the Peaches

Peel the peaches, remove the pits, and cut them into ¼-inch slices. Add the peach slices to the bowl with the lemon juice and zest, tossing to coat them evenly to prevent browning.




4. Make the Filling

To the same bowl, add the brown sugar, almond extract, salt, and cornstarch. Toss until the peaches are evenly coated and the ingredients are well combined.




5. Bake the Filling

Pour the peach filling into the buttered Dutch Oven and spread it into an even layer. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes.




6. Prepare the Topping

While the filling bakes, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Stir until evenly mixed. Add the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until the dough becomes soft and crumbly in texture.




7. Add the Topping and Bake Again

Remove the Dutch Oven from the oven and sprinkle the topping evenly over the peach filling. Return it to the oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crisp.




8. Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Pair each warm serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy your homemade peach cobbler!
