Recipe Ingredients

Maple Walnut Cinnamon Roll Dough Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup + 1 teaspoon warm milk

  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast

  • 1 tablespoon + 1 pinch sugar

  • 1 cup flour

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Maple Walnut Filling Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 3 tablespoons walnuts, finely chopped

Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon milk

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

  • ¼ cup walnuts

Recipe Directions

In a large bowl, mix yeast with milk and a pinch of sugar. Let it foam for 10 minutes.

In another bowl, mix dry ingredients and then combine with the yeast mixture and melted butter. Form a dough, knead for 5 minutes until not sticky, and let rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

Mix brown sugar with cinnamon. Roll the dough into a 5x10-inch rectangle. Spread with butter, cinnamon sugar mixture, drizzle maple syrup, and sprinkle walnuts.

Roll, cut into 4 rolls, and place in a pan to rise for 20 minutes or until doubled in size. Pour heavy cream into the holes at the bottom of the pan and bake for 13 minutes at 400ºF.

For the cream cheese frosting, whisk cream cheese until smooth, add butter, powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and mix until smooth. Drizzle the frosting over warm cinnamon rolls and top with walnuts. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • When rolling out the dough, aim for a 5x10-inch rectangle. Rolling it too flat or too wide might affect the texture and structure of your cinnamon rolls.
  • Ensure your yeast is frothy after mixing with milk and a pinch of sugar. This indicates the yeast is activated and ready to work its magic, resulting in fluffy and perfectly risen rolls.
  • When spreading the butter, cinnamon mixture, and other fillings, be mindful not to go too close to the edges. Leaving a bit of space ensures your rolls seal properly, preventing any filling from leaking out during baking.
  • Use the Round Cake Pan in the Larder & Vine Bakeware Set for even baking and easy clean up.
